Swimming

We have had A LOT going on this week! I dont want to rehash the past few days as they were not the most pleasant. We had to cancel our beach trip as my grandmother has taken a turn for the worse and we were scared to leave town. We will go in August.

We did go to Columbia, MS to visit my mamommy and we stayed with Aunt Jan. Carsyn got to go swimming for the first time. Thanks for the bed and breakfast, Auntie Jan!

Enjoy the pictures!

Happy Father's Day!

This weekend has been so relaxing and enjoyable!

Saturday Carsyn and I cleaned up around the house and ran an errand and then off to lunch with Capt. Pappy (my dad) at Olive Garden. She was all smiles but lordy taking this youngin' anyhere these days will wear you slam out! Forget sitting in a highchair she wants to sit with you and get into everything!!! AND Capt. Pappy might just be the worse grandparent about letting her have her way!! Needless to say she didn’t get her afternoon nap because he and she wanted to play!

Now, I know you all may say I’m crazy but I have several witnesses that can testify that Carsyn can say the word "Hey!" It all started on Saturday when we ran by my friend Kristy's house. She kept telling Carsyn to say "Hey Nick" to her dog and all of the sudden she said "HEY!" We looked at each other with big eyes laughing and said did you hear that?! Then she said it again!!! I told Danny and he said whatever! Well today on our visit to Dauphin Island she said it about 4 times to different strangers and this time he heard it! Danny always says "Hey" to Carsyn when he sees her so I guess she has heard it so much she is repeating it. I’m sure she doesn’t know why she says that sound but she definitely says it when you tell her to tell someone "Hey!"

So today we took a little drive over to Dauphin Island. It is sort of a little secret in south Alabama... nice and quiet and pretty. We went to the Dauphin Island Estruarium for a little marine biology lesson. Carsyn had more fun looking at all of the other kids playing rather than the fish. I have to get this baby into a playgroup! Anybody know of any playgroups in Mccomb?! So then we took a stroll along the boardwalk for her to see the water. It was her first time to see a "beach." As we pulled up to the restaurant she passed out asleep! So not to wake her we went ahead back to Mobile and stopped to eat when we got back. Carsyn loves to smile and talk to strangers! I hope this outgoing personality sticks with her in life! She is definitely going to be a very headstrong and independent baby but I guess she gets these personality traits honestly!

All in all it was a very pleasurable day and Carsyn enjoyed herself immensely! Her little brain is working in overdrive! She hates to sleep in the event she will miss some action!

This week shall be interesting as our babysitter is out of town and we are having to call in help. Monday and Tuesday CiCi (Danny's mom) is coming to help and Wed & Fri a lady who has never kept Carsyn will help and Thursday my friend's mom is coming to help. Whoa this should throw my poor routined baby for a major tailspin! I hope the stranger anxiety does not surface!

Enjoy the pics from our day at Dauphin Island!

SIX Month Birthday

Yesterday was Carsyn's 6 month birthday! It has flown by so quickly!

A few stories I have forgotten to share.....

Seperation/Stranger Anxiety
When at the doctor's the other day he mentioned that Carsyn might start having anxiety around strangers. I told him we had already had this for a while now! Last week Courtney could not babysit so our substitute Brandy came over in her place. Carsyn had just seen Brandy the week prior but when she woke up from her nap and found Brandy there she started screaming for about 25 min straight! Then upon waking from her afternoon nap she did it again! Poor Brandy and Carsyn! Also I have mentioned in prior blogs about Carsyn's need for my presence so needless to say we have been in the phase for about a month now already!

Sleeping
As everyone knows my child does not like to go to sleep. Her naps have gotten longer but she still fights going down for one. This week we have been allowing her to cry when she wakes in the middle of the night. We started on Sunday and by Wed night she slept through the night. Last night however she still woke and cried but the duration of crying was not as long. On the second night, however, I awoke at 1AM to Carsyn crying- I went to check on her and then left her to get herself back to sleep. Of course, upon seeing me her cries got much more intense and loud. Ever since she was placed in her crib 4 months ago she has had a stuffed cow in with her. It is very soft and the reason at first that I used it was because it is big and flat and I used it as a buffer to keep her from rolling and feeling alone. Well on this night (or morning rather) I pushed the cow closer to her but not too close as I was afraid of her smothering! So I wake at 2:30 and she is crying again (or perhaps still crying) I look at my monitor and she has pulled the stuffed animal up to her from her feet and is snuggled up to it with her face nuzzled into it. Of course I was like "AHHH she is going to suffocate" so I wake at 4 and she is sleeping securely holding the cow. I go into her room to try to remove it but she has a death grip on it that is not relinquishing, so I leave her be. At 6:30 when I awake for work she is still asleep and still tightly grasping the cow cuddled up to it!
I guess we have a new cuddle friend! It was so cute I wish I could have taken a picture but didnt want to wake the angel!

Family Fun day- this weekend Danny and I are supposed to take Carsyn to Dauphin Island on Sunday for some quality time together. We have allowed life responsibilities to take over and I can not recall the last time we have all done something together. So hopefully we will have a funfilled day at the Dauphin Island sea lab and beach! Pics to follow!

My baby is as big as a one year old!!!

Today was Carsyn's 6 month appointment- a week early to check on our eye condition.
20 lbs and 27 in was the result! The doc said, now just because she is 20 lbs doesnt mean she can turn forward in her car seat- you have to wait until 1 year!I think riding in the car is going to be so much more pleasant once she can turn around and see everything. Carsyn HATES to be by herself and currently car rides are more than unpleasant, almost unbearable!

The doc said the eye seemed to be okay but we would watch it. I have been watching it and I think she has some allergies I just dont know to what!

He also asked how her sleeping was...I told him she still woke up 2times a night and he said that needed to stop. And we would have to let her cry. I said I had no problems with this but Daddy cant seem to tolerate it. In fact let me share with the blogging world a story about how I asked Daddy to not go get her when she woke up and he did it behind my back while I was asleep and refilled her bottle so I wouldnt know he had gone to get her!!!!!!!! Little did he know I can figure these things out!I told him that he did her no favors and now we have to start all over!!!! When we return from MISS this weekend it is going to start again! This baby has to learn to sleep!

We leave in the wee-early morning to get to Mccomb for a Honey-do shower that we are hosting for Mike and Amy, this adorable couple! Should be a great time- Crawfish Boil on the lake!

So new post when I return from the weekend!!!!

Almost 6 months and oh the things we have learned!

It is AMAZING how much a baby learns in 6 months! They are like little sponges...their brains working non-stop trying to figure out the world!
This weekend we got to stay in town- YEAH! So we had plenty of time for a few snapshots of Carsyn's new favorite past time....SITTING UP! She ALWAYS wants to sit up! Which is great since I have been waiting for this to be able to take better photographs of her! Still not a big fan of rolling over nor scooting or crawling but definitely sitting and standing! She can also stand holding onto something by herself for a few brief minutes! She LOVES to stand!
She also LOVES to drink from your glass- forget the bottle this kid wants a cup! Whenever you go to drink something she reaches out and about knocks it out of your hand to get a sip with her mouth wide open! I think she likes the cold against her gums! Which are still teething but no teefies yet! So now we have a sippy cup where we drink our juice. She can hold it and put it up to her mouth (remind me to get a picture of that, of course I am usually the one holding her!)

Which brings me to Mommy phase....we are still definitely in mommy phase. Not sure if it is separation anxiety but if she knows Im around she will hollar for me to get her from whomever is holding her! I love to know the angel loves me but sometimes mommy would like to pass her off and recently at a family function this was not an option!

Since I have been busy taking portraits of other people's children, me, my mom, and Carsyn took a trip to the local park to catch a few pre-6month pictures. A preview to the beach portraits I will take in a couple of weeks when we go down for our vacation.

We have our 6 month appointment this week- I had to move it up because Carsyn seems to have a bit of allergy or something. Her eye constantly waters and one day this week she woke with a rash or something on her cheek. I held off on taking her to the doctor since we were going this week for shots...who wants to go to the doctor twice!

My mom has been here helping since our beloved Courtney is out of town. Thanks Nonny! I got to go out with the girls for a little Sex in the City movie and dinner! WHOOHOO!

Well enjoy the portraits of this weekend! Until next time!
